Raw Aluminum 6061-T6-Extruded, PLA
(Nylon Paracord) (Polyurethane Foam)
L 24” W 24” H 31”

A chair that acts as a structure for assembly, unusable in the absence of additions of everyday or common objects and materials. Forcing creative collaboration in ownership rather than consumption. This is supported by the structural frame of 1” x 1” extruded aluminum assembled with visible and disassemble mechanical fasteners. This allows for flat pack with a 1”x 8” area. This also allows for reconfiguration into other typologies which is to be explored. All hardware is aluminum with the exception of removable 3D printed PLA inserts.

In form and materiality, it embraces our environment as a reflection of contemporary surroundings. Recognition of our condition; objectified experience. There is no contentment in the absence of acceptance. This is an embracing of what is, a recognition of beauty in the mundane as that which makes up our everyday reality.

This is only one of infinite configurations which includes bare upholstery foam. This was chosen as the first assembly as the foam acts as a perfect complement to the cold and rigid frame. It is also ultimately functional for the use case of config 1 as chair. All materials are kept raw and display themselves in full authenticity. Similarly, all structures and means of connection are prominently visible; nothing is concealed or mystified. Simplification to nothing more or less than what is functional.
